BIM at Archaus Architects
You may not know this yet, but as a construction professional, you need to know about BIM. For those not familiar with the acronym, BIM is Building Information Modeling. In very simple terms this is the construction, and we use the word advisedly, of your future building from wall- types to waste pipes as a computer model prior to a spade being put in the ground.
The design information from the Architect, Structural Engineer, Services consultants, fire engineers etc is all integrated in to the same computer model. In this way despite all of the consultants working separately all of the information is co-ordinated as it is drawn and uploaded to the master file at the end of the day, rather than needing revision after revision as new information arrives in the mail.
For your benefit and the benefit of the project there are two key factors that the use of Building Information Modelling brings to the table:
* Potential COST SAVINGS of 10 to 15% of building budget.
* Potential 20% saving in construction time, even with today cheap credit, time is still money!
But this is not all, if the use of BIM modeling is not in use through the production of construction information this does not mean that it still cannot benefit you, even late instigation will reap the benefits of prudent planning. We at ArcHaus Architects are utilizing BIM on our most major projects now, and are committed to using it on all our work, where it is appropriate, as we go forward as a technologically advanced practice in to the future of architecture.
We are lucky enough to have New Zealands leading exponent of BIM leading our concerted charge. Once you have seen the information, you will see why we are such exponents of the importance of both the system and the team that we have leading the industry.

this, the most important tool in construction delivery.
